A new head office for Nor Tekstil

Nor Tekstil, Norway’s leading provider of textile and laundry services, employs more than 1200 people and supports sectors ranging from healthcare and hospitality to industry and commerce. In Florø, the westernmost town in Norway where Nor Tekstil was founded, the company has opened a new headquarters for its administrative team of around 80 employees.

Positioned beside the company’s local laundry facility, the new administration building marks a step for the company, providing a state-of-the-art workplace that prioritises everyday comfort.

Designed by architect Zuzana Kerulova of ABO Plan & Architecture with interiors by Sonja Solstrand of Sol Design, the headquarters spans 2200 square metres across three floors. More than 80 workstations are organised within a flexible office landscape that includes open work areas, meeting rooms of different sizes, quiet rooms, and shared social spaces.

Acoustic comfort as a design priority

From the earliest planning stages, acoustic comfort played a central role in shaping the interior environment, particularly within the open office areas.

Both Rockfon Color-all and Rockfon Tropic Plus acoustic ceiling tiles were selected to tackle sound absorption and optimise the office acoustics.

High ceilings and expansive windows frame views across the Florabassenget archipelago, reinforcing the connection between the office and its coastal surroundings. The white colour of Rockfon Tropic Plus complements the building’s generous glazing to reflect daylight deeper into the interior.

With Class A sound absorption, Rockfon Color-all feature a smooth, matte surface and are available across the full Colours of Wellbeing palette, in multiple formats and with the option of a colour-matched grid. At the Nor Tekstil head office, the tiles are installed in the shades Hemp, Linen, and Iron, introducing powerful noise control while helping define the different zones within the workplace.

To maintain a clean visual language, ventilation grilles and technical installations are painted to match the ceiling colour. The ceilings are also paired with carpeting, textiles, and upholstered furniture throughout the interior, helping create a workplace with multiple surfaces that work on sound absorption.

Achieving the Nordic Swan Ecolabel

Sustainability goals were central to the project. Rockfon acoustic ceiling tiles are supplied with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and contribute to several major building certification schemes, including BREEAM, LEED, DGNB, and WELL.

The new Nor Tekstil headquarters has been completed in line with the requirements of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, one of the region’s most demanding environmental certifications for buildings and products. Established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the label provides verified guidance for reducing environmental impact across production, materials, and indoor climate.

With this project, Nor Tekstil’s headquarters becomes Norway’s first Swan-labelled office building. The achievement reflects the company’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility. Many of its laundry plants already operate under the same certification with 20 out of the company’s 25 facilities.

Every material and product selected for the completion of the Nor Tekstil head office contributed to meeting these criteria.
