Rockfon’s Decarbonisation Efforts Continue with Solar Power Purchase Agreement for Roermond Factory

The Rockfon acoustic products manufactured in the Roermond factory include the ceiling solutions Rockfon Krios A-edge, Rockfon Pallas A-edge, and Rockfon CleanSpace A-edge, whereas the ROCKWOOL products are largely used in construction, renovation, and insulation projects in the Benelux region. 

The conclusion of this power purchase agreement is in line with ROCKWOOL Group's ambitious goal to reduce emissions by 38 percent by 2034 compared to a 2019 baseline and the route to net zero emissions by 2050.

ROCKWOOL B.V. has been utilising green power for years, and with the solar energy from the Noordoostpolder, it secures part of its energy needs and stable costs in a long-term supply agreement. Back in 2024, ROCKWOOL B.V had announced the conversion of two production lines to an innovative electric melting technology based on green energy – one of which is the line dedicated to the production of stone wool for Rockfon – as well as the implementation of improved binder technology for a reduction in ammonia emissions.
