Rockfon, part of ROCKWOOL Group, is pleased to announce that improved binder technology will be implemented in the production line at the ROCKWOOL Roermond factory in the Netherlands. The new binders will significantly reduce ammonia emissions during the production process, with the conversion scheduled to be completed in 2026-2027. As a result, Rockfon products will have reduced emissions and will be in compliance with the new, stricter European Union directive for interior insulation products, which will come into effect in mid-2026.
“We are continuing to demonstrate that we take sustainability seriously throughout the complete value chain”, said Mostafa Alkhamrichi, R&D Project Manager at Rockfon. “With this investment, we can improve both our production process and our acoustic products offerings”.
Across the factory, the new technology will result in a reduction in ammonia emissions of approximately 70 percent at the product level, which represents a reduction of approximately 10 percent in the total ammonia emissions of the entire plant. There is potential for a further 5 to 10 percent reduction across the following years.
